Breakaway Roping
Watch as top WPRA cowgirls showcase incredible speed and precision in breakaway roping! In this fast-paced event, the calf gets a head start before the rider bursts from the box and ropes it—often in just two to four seconds. Unlike traditional roping, the rope is tied to the saddle horn with a string, and once the calf is roped, the string breaks away to stop the clock. It’s a thrilling display of quick reflexes, practiced timing, and elite horsemanship sanctioned by the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association.
